Different position open...

Well, because I didn't get the scheduling position and Doug did...it leaves his spot open in Lead System Control. At first I had the attitude that I wasn't going to put in for it because, well....just because. I was angry and hurt by not getting the scheduler job. But after one of the Lead's suggested to me that I ought to think about it cuz she felt I was one of the more qualified...I gave it some more thought. Today at 3:57pm the email came that the vacancy was posted and if anyone was interested to contact "so 'n so" with resume and availability in the particular week he was going to be doing the interviews. 3 minutes later, he knew of my interest, had my resume and when I was available that particular week. He emailed me back, saying "that was quick (all of 3 minutes!)" and asked how the 17th at 1pm sounded. I emailed back saying it sounded fine! So on January 17th, at 1pm, I will be interviewed for a Lead position. Brief explanation of what the Lead Controller does is monitor the electric system for the entire Consumers Energy territory in Michigan. They have contact with interfaces such as Detroit Edison, MEPCC, MISO...if anyone has heard of those. They have a pretty important job. Anyhow, if I don't get it...at least I interviewed. I'm putting forth the interest. And as I said if I don't get it...well, then I stay where I'm at. Things happen for a reason, although we seldom understand the reason at the time.

How it turned out..

Well the one thing I was hoping would turn things around didn't. It didn't go badly either. Just was basically postponed til mid-January.

We had heard that a Ford dealership was buying vehicles and putting ppl in new Fords. So we went to check it out since my truck has given me quite a bit of grief since Thanksgiving Day. No luck. Basically found out I got screwed big time by Sundance in Grand Ledge. The same exact truck as mine, we were told was worth over $30,000 when I bought it. Guess we should have done some research. The Ford dealer showed us on his computer that it's really only worth about $18,500. We also found out that we paid for a service contract on the vehicle and yet, they won't stand behind the problems I've had. So I will be writing them in hopes of getting a refund on the contract. It won't be big, but it would be something. Anyhow, because I owe so much on the truck (buying it for more than it was worth and having to roll over part of the previous vehicle loan) I'm basically screwed on getting out of this deal and lowering my payment. It was worth a try anyhow.

But one good thing did happen today. I received, by certified mail, a resolution to a problem that I thought I might have to take to small claims court. I loaned a friend a substantial amount of money because she was in need at the time. I have been trying to get paid back for about 6 months now. I hadn't spoke to her for a least a month, maybe two. I finally decided I was going to do something about the good chunk she still owed me, so I called her. She ended up sending me future dated checks (payment plan) and a payoff date of the remaining balance. This was all done by certified mail...she stated that she knows she has to do as she wrote or I will pursue this in court which the court would find in my favor. I have to respond to her in writing by mail to seal the agreement. And I will. I am pleased I will be paid in full by the end of March. Our friendship on the other hand...most likely won't be saved. A friend doesn't treat you the way she treated me the past few months. It could have been helped. Apparently she didn't want to help it. She claims she doesn't want our friendship to be ruined...but I think she pretty much did that. Anyhow....I'm being paid back - finally.

Let this be...

the day things start turning around for us.

Please.

It wasn't me

picked for the scheduling position. I found out about 1/2 hr ago. Needless to say, I am extremely disappointed. The person they did pick will do a great job and I will definitely congratulate him but I'm still disappointed. I pretty much feel numb right now. I've been wanting this job for at least, at least, three years if not longer. I have a great work ethic. I have great repoire with the supervisors I would have worked with. It's just a shame.

'nuff said.

Tigger & Fluff

Here is a pic of our two new kitties that I think I mentioned in a previous post.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Tigger is the grey tiger kitty and obviously the fluffly white one is Fluff. They are finally getting used to the house, the other 2 cats & the dog. I didn't mention that our Peanut, was hit last week while playing outside. Joe was playing fetch with him & Buddy. Joe got Buddy to stop while chasing a squirrel but Peanut wasn't listening & ran into the road and a Road Commission truck hit him. May he rest in peace.

Have a good Sunday. I'm off to bed. Just got home from working 12 hrs.

Interview & eBay

I had my interview today for the scheduling position I had mentioned sometime before in a post. Keep your fingers crossed that I get the job. I should know within a week or two.

I also have some items listed on eBay, if you are at all interested.

Have a great night.

Ok, ok....

I'm here! Toni has gotten after me to post - wanting to make sure I'm alright. And I am alright. I appreciate the concern. Just lots of things going on. Don't really want to bring them out here. Just know I'm here. Some days are good, others suck. But I'm alive and still kickin!

We added 2 new kittens to the family night before last. They were orphaned at our babysitters moms house. They are adorable. If you've seen Shrek 2 with Puss 'N Boots and you have seen his big kitty eyes, that is exactly how the one looks, only he's a grey tiger. The other is a fluffy white kitty with black spots. Both males.

Anyhow, I've posted and I'll try to be better on doing so!

Best Wishes

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Hope you have a very enjoyable Thanksgiving Day whether it be with family and/or friends. If you are driving, be careful. If you are driving and are having wintery weather, be extra careful. If you are cooking....don't burn yourself. If you are just eating...don't over eat!

Enjoy your day!

Happy Anniversary to my parents!

Another year to tuck under their belt - Happy Anniversary to my mom & dad! I love you both!

Unexpected Surprise

That is the best way to describe what happened. It was definitely an unexpected surprise.

I opened my email day before yesterday ( I believe it was ) and I had a Yahoo 360 invite from Bea. Bea? No way, it couldn't be Bea. Not the Bea I knew and actually met in Montreal on a trip to meet Sandee. But YES! It was Bea!!!! I am so happy she has contacted me. We lost touch quite a while back. Seems like years. So much has happened with her in the time that we had lost touch, but she is an amazingly strong woman! I'm very proud of her for what I have read in her blog trying to catch up. Bea you look amazing darling! I'm so happy you contacted me. I hope from now on we can keep in better touch!

Back to work...

Yepper, had to go back to work. Getting really tired of sitting at home. Ppl have said it's great to have me back. Others say "oh, you sound like you have a cold" - uh, yeah. So anyhow, it's good to be back, believe it or not.

I have heard today, that there may be 4-5 ppl that put in for the job I spoke about recently. Nothing has been said about scheduling interviews, so the waiting game continues. The one guy I mentioned that really can't even do his own job proved again this morning, that he is not accountable for his actions. He points the finger at others. The biggest problem I have with that, is the fact that he is a minister. He has 2 churches that he is a minister at. He's a very pompous, righteous person who is not accountable for his actions and continues to not tell the truth when confronted. He cannot take criticism at all. It's amazing that he is a man of GOD considering how he acts here at work. Anyhow, just had to vent about that. It's very irritating to me.

Wow, was it windy this morning. I had to take the trash out to the road and it was a struggle. As soon as I left the container, it blew over. Had to go back and re-situate it! Hopefully it will calm down a bit before I get out of here.

TTFN!

Still home...

I decided to take a couple extra days off since I was hit so quickly with the bronchitis. I had today off and also took tomorrow. My boss is really good about it. He knows I wouldn't do it if I didn't think I should. I'm still real tired. But for some reason couldn't take a nap today. Not for the lack of trying! My nose is somewhat stuffed yet...not so runny. My ears are bothering me a bit so I put sweet oil in one for now. I'm thinking after tomorrow I should be ok to go back.

I am going to cancel my Daisy meeting for Wednesday as well. I just don't feel up to it and I don't want to expose those little girls to what I have/had.

I lost another 4 lbs according to the scale. So since the end of Sept, I've lost 13.5 lbs. I really need to exercise but this just isn't the time of year for me to be motivated to do it, not to mention I'm sick right now as well.

The scheduling position was finally posted at work a couple weeks ago. This is the job I have had in my sights for a few years now so of course I jumped on letting them know I wanted it. The posting was to expire on the 11th which was last Friday. When I called into work today to tell the boss I was hoping to get tomorrow off as well, I asked if he had heard anything about the position. He said he had heard only 2 were interested. Hm.. I knew of about 4 that were interested. I know two were ppl I work with. One thinks he should get it because he has a lot of degrees. Has nothing to do with the fact he can't even handle his own job let alone do this job instead. The other one, would have been a good candidate but he loses his temper easily and is extremely opinionated. The other person, it would have been a lateral move for her and I'm not sure she would have fit the bill either. Now me, I've filled in for this position when our current schedulers take vacation because I want to, not because I'm being MADE to. I like the job. I like the ppl they work with. I'm definitely qualified for it. Let's just hope the odds are in my favor! I'll let you know as I know more.

Dinner is almost done. Hopefully Joe will be home soon. Luckily I haven't had the girls while I've been sick. There is no way I could have taken care of them these past few days. I've had a hard enough time taking care of myself. Any how....

Aren't the bat ears great?? LOL Joe took some really cute pics of Peanut last night.

Started to feel a bit better yesterday. Today, not so much. Gonna veg in front of the TV again. Maybe start my Christmas Cards. I think I need to call my boss and tell him I won't be in tomorrow either. Pray for me that I start feeling better soon, k?? I'd appreciate it!

The wind, the teachers and me

It is so darn windy out! Currently my weather bug tells me the wind is blowing 18 mph. Seems like it's windier than that. The weather forecaster on the radio said there may be times when the wind gusts up to 50 mph. Whew!

Tonight was teacher conferences for both Lindsay and Kimberlee. I am definitely sure that John and I left the school feeling mighty proud of our girls. Lindsay's kindergarten teacher told us Lindsay is right there on the edge of reading. She recognizes all her upper case & lower case letters. Recognizes numbers well. She's always happy, humorous and loves school. She's at the top in her class!
Kimberlee has the following grades:
Math - B+,
Reading - B-,
Writing/Literacy - A,
Social Studies - B+ and
Science - A-.
The teacher says she's friendly, cooperative and has adjusted well to 3rd grade. She's also showing responsibility by returning her homework on time. yay to my girls!

Now me, I'm dealing with a very scratchy throat. I'm achy and tired. Which means I'm also grumpy! I get very warm at times. I wanna go to bed! How do I tell the girls to take care of themselves so I can crash?? I don't. I guess we just try to all go to bed early!

G'night!

Another introduction.....

This is our new kitty!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

She already had a name, although Joe and I can't remember what it is that the ppl called her. Not sure if we are going to give her a new name or call the ppl and ask. But she's absolutely gorgeous. So soft. And very very friendly. Joe wanted a "garage" cat to catch the mice, so that is where she resides. She still has all her claws, so she'll be able to defend herself if needed.

She looks a little miffed in the picture because Peanut was running around in the garage at the time! LOL

We have another new addition to the clan as of tonight but I haven't taken any pics of her yet. I'll do that tomorrow. I had to steal batteries out of a remote to put in my digi camera. So stayed tuned & see our newest addition tomorrow (Monday).

Introducing Peanut!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

He was born August 30th and so that makes him, what? almost 9 weeks old?? He's grown a lot since we got him but he's always gonna be a Peanut! lol

I have a kid-free, work-free weekend and I'm gonna enjoy it, I hope. My Daisy Troop and I, along with a helper, went to Impression Five Science Center this morning for "Energy Day" in which they received this patch:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

It was neat because there was a vendor at the Energy Day event that was from Pigeon, MI, up by where I came from. My sister & BIL live there also. I mentioned to the ppl that I was from up in their neck of the woods. It's always neat to come across someone down here that is familiar with your old area. :)

Joe and I were going to go out to a movie tonight, but his boss called. Some fencing he put up a few days ago fell down, so Joe had to go put it back up again. He says we'll go do something tomorrow. We'll see.

Have a great night - I have to figure out what I'm gonna do since I have the house to myself now. Hmm....????

Nuttin...

new yesterday. Slept til 3. Ran some errands around 3:30. Came home, cleaned out in front of the garage & got some things put away cuz winters-a-comin. Joe got home, we ate some din-din, petted the doggies. Gave the new little one a bath, read, took a nap, came to work.

Now it's 5:30am and I've got about another hour or so left and I can go home & sleep again. Seems like when you work midnight shift, that's about all you do is sleep. I work at 7pm tonight and guess what? Daylight savings ends so we fall back an hour. That means instead of working 12 hrs tonight, I work 13. Joy. (can you hear the sarcasm?)

Been trying real hard to stay on-program for WW while on this shift. It's been a challenge that is for sure. I've snuck a few quick peeks at the scale on two different days and I've lost a few lbs. But the true reading will be Monday morning when I do my weekly weigh in. But with working mids, I haven't been stuffing my face. Just getting some cravings on the rotten shift. I've been trying to drink my water, eat my recommended servings, so we'll see.

TTFN!

PS - Any suggestions on what to name our mini daschund?? I guess I should post a pic and then it'll help to provide suggestions huh? I'll try to remember to do it later when I'm home.

Idle chit-chat

Karen came home on Wednesday!! Karen's home - Karen's home!! I'm sure no one is happier than she is! I wish I could go out and keep her company for a few days but money & work schedule just doesn't permit it. But I am trying to call her everyday, even if it's only for a few minutes!

We got a new puppy last Sunday. It's a miniature daschund. He's sooooo cute and tiny! He's about 7 weeks old. We have not named him yet. Buddy, our Golden, doesn't know what to think about him yet. Buddy is so big and the new pup is so small. I told Joe we should name the pup "one bite" cuz that's all it would take at this point! LOL But really, the girls love him too. He does whine & bark a lot though. Hopefully once I get off this midnight shift, he'll get a little more used to us. Oh, and the cats...well, they don't know what to think either. He's smaller than they are! I'll post a pic soon - maybe once we decide on a name. :)

Last night I took the girls to our local library for "A Night of Spooky and Fun Halloween Stories with Adam Mellema". What fun we had. He is an awesome story teller! I'm glad we went in the library earlier this week and found out about this event!

'Nuther update on Karen

I just called Karen. She's doing much better today. Seems she has a blood clot, well not exactly a clot but like a blood pool in her tummy. They are giving her blood to replenish what she's lost and to help build the pressure back so it'll stop the capillaries from bleeding. She's also on oxygen and demerol. So with that she isn't even able to drink water, just swab her mouth to keep it moist. She'll be staying in the lovely "resort" a bit longer. But she definitely sounded so much better today!

Update on Karen

Karen had a pretty rough night last night. Her mom called me this afternoon and told me Karen had just got back in her room from having a CAT scan of her tummy. Apparently they gave her solid foods already and caused her to have some gas which was unbearable throughout the night. They did the CAT scan as to make sure there was nothing else going on in her tummy except for the gas. So she's pretty worn out. Hopefully after she rests she'll give me a call back later. If not, I'll be calling again tomorrow to check on her.

9 months...

Joe and I celebrate our 9 month anniversary today!! I would have to say, that the past nine months, even though we've had ups and downs, it's been the happiest nine months I've had in a very very very long time and I owe it all to him!

Joe, I love you!!

Groggy

My wonderful friend, Karen just called me from the hospital. She had surgery today, you can read about why she needed to have surgery on her blog. She was very groggy but I am so happy she called!! I had tears in my eyes. She was using her morphine drip regularly as she was allowed and she was in pain but I had her laughing a little and it just made my day to hear her voice after knowing what she had just gone thru!

I will give her a call or two tomorrow to see how she's doing. I'm just so glad she called me and she made it thru the surgery alright. yay!

For Me

I have joined WW again as of Sept 29. I am also back into walking. Highly recommended by my doctors. Yesterday was my first day back walking and I only did a 10 minute walk, but it was a start. Today I did a 20 minute walk. Not sure how I'll fit a walk in tomorrow, due to an extremely busy day planned, but will definitely be back walking on Thursday. WW is going well. So far lost 5 lbs total. It's been rather hard at times to not just go to the fridge and eat what I want, like before, but I'm getting a handle on it.

Tomorrow evening should be a fun time. There is a Girl Scout event called a Sing-A-Long at "The Barn". It's a HUGE old red barn and the Girl Scouts use it annually for their Sing-A-Long event. The girls and I are going and hopefully my other 2 little Daisy Girl Scouts will go too. I have 4 girls total in my troop. One actually lives where "The Barn" is, so I just have to wait & see if the other 2 lil girlies show up at our meeting spot. If not, then I can probably take a Brownie or two with us. See, I'm the Daisy Girl Scout Leader and the co-leader for the Brownie Troop too! I've also been looking at different websites to get more ideas for Daisy meetings. Our next meeting is Oct. 26. We are celebrating Juliette Gordon Low's birthday. She is the founder of Girl Scouts and her nickname growing up was "Daisy". I enjoy planning these meetings. They are much fun, even with only 4 girls.

Ok, so I guess I've rambled on enough. Hope you all have a great night. :)

Hard to believe I haven't posted since October 8 and today is the 16th! Sheesh!

Happy Birthday to my friend Sara! I hope you've had a great day!

The weekend overall was really nice. We had some decent weather, although a bit windy. Got some work done in the garage. But lots left to do. If I keep on Joe it might get straightened up before the snow flies!! I hope so anyhow, cuz I wanna park my truck in there! Wish I had the money to get a remote starter put on my baby, but for now I don't. Maybe, just maybe I will before we get into the heart of winter. Yesterday the girls and I went to the Fire Department Open House. We had some fun there and the girls didn't want to leave but we had been there for an hour & a half and the event was going to be over in another 1/2 hr. The girls got their picture taken in part of the uniform that the firefighters wear. Click here if you'd like to see them dressed up. I also got the grass mowed. I wonder how many more times I'll have to do that before winter.

Tomorrow is a busy day. But then again, when isn't every day a busy one??

Have a great night & a good week!

Grumpies go bye-bye & Joe's Birthday

My grumpies are gone, I think you all have shoo'd them away. Thanks! I still have been thrown some pretty good curves this past week. Some of them are much harder to handle than others, but I have a really good support system with Joe. And I thank him for that!

Speaking of Joe, today is his birthday! He and I both had to work all day. I'm just waiting for him to get home. His mom & sister are supposed to be coming for dinner from what I understand and luckily they agreed to figure out what dinner would be. Lucky me! Money has been pretty tight here and so what Joe is getting for his birthday from me is a Texas Hold'em set. He says he really enjoys playing it although we've never played together anywhere. He's gone to friends houses before & played though. And also I got him a silly t-shirt. He likes those! lol
I have a couple things from the girls for him, but he isn't getting them til the girls can give them to him themselves. Which won't be for another week, they are at their dads this weekend/next week. So I hope this all turns out well tonight. I wanted to have a bonfire, but I forgot to get a burning permit yesterday and besides, it's probably too windy tonight to burn. Oh well.

TTFN - have a great weekend!

Grumpiness

Can't seem to shake getting grumpy easily. Maybe cuz I'm off my anti-depressant. I don't know. If the girls would just listen and do what they are told I wouldn't get grumpy. I hope I shake it soon, I'd hate to have that grumpy look on my face made permanent! LOL

So lots to do today. Better get on it!

Have a great day.

Yay, you found me!

It's good to see that some of my bloggin and Sis-2-Sis friends have found me at my new home. I'm sure more will venture over here to visit. :)

So far today I have the front yard mowed, and have tried to clean up out in the driveway. There is a bit of a mess out there. I ran out of gas in the lawnmower, so Joe has to get some more for me.

My head was way off again this morning. I'm not sure the generic for Claritin D and the Nasonex is enough. But I'm giving it a fair try.

Gonna head back outside. TTFN!

TGIF

I got up this morning when Joe did. His alarm goes off at 5:30am and then he eventually gets out of bed around 6. I was pretty much awake and feeling pretty good, so I decided to get up too. Now, at 9:30am, I'm wanting to go back & take a nap. And I probably will.

My head is feeling better today. I should have started taking the generic brand of Claritin D a few weeks ago. Live & learn I guess!

I can't wait til 11pm tonight, know why?? Cuz I have the weekend off and hope to get lots done around the house!

I also re-joined Weight Watchers again last night. I use the online program. Hopefully I can get back exercising and eating right. That will help me stay away from Type 2 Diabetes!!

See ya!

New Location

I just don't have the patience for WordPress. I'm sure it's a great program to use, but I just get bored with the way the templates look and have no idea how to change them. I'm pretty much illiterate when it comes to that type of stuff....so I'll use blogger - I KNOW how to use this one! :)
